What is Difference Between Blogger And Wordpress Platform
There are two famous platforms which are using for blogging and these are Blogger and Wordpress. Both platforms provide free blog hosting services for users. Anyone who wants to create his own blog can create its own free sub-domain under any of these platform without any cost. For example, if you are starting your free blog with wordpress then you will get your blog address under the wordpress.com domain. The url of your blog will be like yourname.wordpress.com depending upon availability. As the number of free blogs is increasing day by day so the availability for your blog url become very difficult but not impossible. After three-to-five unique url attempts you will succeed. Blogger and wordpress use two domains for blogging purpose. Wordpress consists of wordpress.org (for downloading e.g. plugins) and wordpress.com for free hosting and login interface. Similarly blogger uses blogger.com for blog hosting and login interface and blogspot.com for just providing sub-domains under this domain. If any one makes an entry to blogspot.com then he will be redirected to blogger.com. There is a key difference between the both platforms: the blogger uses xhtml (xml) on the other hand wordpress uses PHP. Now I will discuss the major differences between the both.
General Differences between Blogger and Wordpress
- Blogger provides very easy user friendly interface for any new comer while wordpress is quite difficult for new users.
- The arrangement of editing is very professional for wordpress users blogger uses rough interface.
- Template designing and editing in blogger is not understandable for a new blogger like me while as compared to wordpress.
- Adding plugins is very easy and quick method because of auto installation of them if you are using wordpress while add gadgets is very difficult and always requires HTML/JavaScript.
- Wordpress provide application for hosting e.g. you have hosting plan then you can use wordpress application and start your domain with your own hosting while blogger does not have any application like this. You can just redirect your domain while blogger will host your blog.
- You can provide a professional look to your blog with wordpress while blogger has only a typical views for all blogs using any template.
Some Examles Regarding Wordpress and Blogger
Meta Tags addition:
You have to edit whole template of blogger to enter meta description and meta keywords etc while in wordpress you have to just fill out and empty bar with your description and keywords.
Favicon and Header Images:
If your template has any other favicon then you will fail to change it from Layout. You have to search and edit it under the <head> tag of the html. In wordpress you have to put only the link of your favicon in the respective empty space.
Plugin and Gadgets:
Blogger uses gadgets term while wordpress uses plugins. Blogger provides some typical gadgets by default and if you want any other of your choice then you have to search out this and after getting code you have to add it in gadget manually. Wordpress provides a lot of variety of plugins. You can easily find and install it and then just activate it. No need to put it manually in the layout.
Similarly there are many differences but the Blogger is best for new users and wordpress is the best for old bloggers. That's why blogger has greater rank than wordpress because of increasing the number of new bloggers day by day and the other factor of higher rank of blogger is its relation to Google. Now its up to you. Try both and decide.
